More bands have been added to The Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival in Digbeth – and thanks to BBC Introducing West Midlands, the names should be familiar to keen followers of local music.

BBC Introducing’s lineup at the Peaky Blinders Festival was curated by Alex from BBC Introducing West Midlands, with help from sister shows in Hereford & Worcester, Coventry & Warwickshire, Stoke and the East Midlands.

Heading up BBC Introducing’s Saturday line-up is JAWS, and they’re joined by Ivory Wave, The Clause, The Cosmics, Deco and Harri Georgio & The Well Behaved Men.

Sunday sees Brummie favourites Sugarthief headline the stage, with more than adequate support from Black Bear Kiss, Soeur, Feet, Luna Kiss and Bryony Williams.

Already announced for the star-studded festival are Saturday and Sunday headliners respectively, Primal Scream and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, as well as Slaves, Anna Calvi, Jaykae, Mike Skinner (DJ), Nadine Shah and a very special guest, who we’re told is a global superstar at the top of their game right now.

Cast confirmed to appear at the immersive festival include Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby), Harry Kirton (Finn Shelby), Finn Cole (Michael Gray) Packy Lee (Johnny Dogs), Kate Phillips (Linda Shelby) and Paddy Considine (Father John Hughes), with more to be announced. There will also be a Q&A session with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

The Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival will take over the entire Digbeth Estate, with venues such as The Mill, The Night Owl and The Ruin turned into immersive Peaky Blinders experiences, with actors and live theatre performances capturing the essence of Digbeth from the 1890s up to the First World War.

The official event teaser reads:

“Set in 1928, the Shelby family are comfortably set in unchallenged position in their native Birmingham and Thomas Shelby is an elected Member of Parliament and spokesman for the working man, living in London. And today, the Peaky Blinders are raising money for the Shelby Foundation and the Grace Shelby Institute by inviting all Digbeth’s citizens to a street fair and festival.

“However, the peace can only hold so long, as the romany Lee family, Irish O’Carrolls, the police and even Women’s Rights activists rub shoulders with the Peaky Blinders in a gambling den and boxing ring at The Warehouse, the romany encampment in The Yard and The Ruin pub.  Expect explosive drama unfolding right around you.”

The Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival takes place over the weekend of September 14-15 on the Digbeth Estate, Birmingham. One day and limited weekend tickets are on sale now here.
