Two local bands to take the best of Birmingham garage rock to SXSW
Local heroes Table Scraps and Cherry Pickles are both official selections for SXSW 2019. To raise the cash for flights to Texas, they’re both holding gigs on 28th February and 1st March respectively.

On 28th February, Burger Records’ three-piece Table Scraps are playing the Hare & Hounds with support from live favourites The Cosmics. Table Scraps have been a mainstay on the UK’s live circuit for a while now, and their latest release Autonomy was loved by fans and critics alike. If they’re good enough for Idles’ Joe Talbot, who are you to say no?
Relatively new on the scene, Fazeley Park residents Cherry Pickles have already made a splash. They recently announced their signing to PNKSLM, joining the likes of Swampmeat Family Band and Black Mekon on the Stockholm based label. Thankfully, their SXSW fundraiser is the night AFTER the Table Scraps one, so you needn’t pick a side. It’s March 1st at Fazeley Park in Minerva Works, Black Mekon are supporting, and the £5 door tax includes the promise of a raffle ticket.
