Infamous grunge rock progenitors Melvins to play Birmingham in October
Long-running experimental rock band, Melvins, will be playing at the O2 Academy in Birmingham on October 23rd as part of their European tour.

Big hair, big riffs, big sound, big influence on Kurt Cobain. The progenitors of the whole Seattle grunge scene bring their concrete chainsaw guitar buzz to O2 Academy. This years new album, Pinkus Abortion Technician continues the band’s sludge heavy onslaught with a cute nod to the classic Butthole Surfers album Locust Abortion Technician and features the Butthole’s Jeff Pinkus on bass plus a rollicking cover of ‘Graveyard’.
The Melvins have hammered out two classic shows in the city recently at The Rainbow Venues and more recently at the O2 Institute: expect more of the same at the O2 Academy. Support comes from Jon Spencer whose new album Spencer Sings The Hits is released in November.
