Great food, Michelin stars and intimate ambiance are all usually associated with places Paris, London and New York. However, over the years we have all been pleasantly surprised to find fine exquisite dining in the most unusual places where we least expect it. The perfect example, maybe going to Vegas for roulette and wild parties, only to discover the Bardot Brasserie with superb meals being created by the award-winning chef Michael Mina. Another city that may surprise a few is the West Midlands city of Birmingham, which has a massive range of venues in which to experience culinary delights.

If it is Vegas-esque dining experience you are looking for then the Grosvenor Casino in Birmingham might be just what you are looking for! They also stock a range of different drinks from all over the world to complement their dishes.

The Stable is the definition of cool and casual as a restaurant. They offer handmade pizzas, pie and a whole menu of delicious hearty dishes. It has a chic setting, with low hanging bulbs, large illuminated signs and long wooden tables and has a pretty rustic feel to it. Cider is also a big deal for the Stables, where you can find 80 different varieties of the drink and you can even try a tasting board, should you not be able to choose a cider.

Birmingham Bierkeller you might assume is just for drinking, but this is not the case as they offer a wide variety of food also. If you head here and you are feeling ravenous you might fancy attempting one of their man v food challenges. There are three to choose from, which are the meter-long hotdog, 2kg of chicken wings and a giant burger stack. There is also a fantastic choice of German classics with a twist, including chicken schnitzel, currywurst and even a halloumi schnitzel on offer! The ribs and burgers are also worth checking out.

Kanteen is located within the creative Digbeth area of Birmingham, in the Custard Factory. Kanteen put the community at the heart of everything they do and produce nutritious and responsibly sourced meals. Kanteen supports the homeless and vulnerable communities with catering and it is now known as one of the hot spots to have brunch in Birmingham at the moment.
