Swedish indie rockers The Cardigans have announced a 20th anniversary tour for their 1998 fourth studio album Gran Turismo. Formed in 1992, the Nina Persson fronted band came to prominence when their song ‘Lovefool’ was featured on the soundtrack to 1996 film Romeo & Juliet. A couple of years later they released Gran Turismo, which reached #8 in the UK album charts.

Adopting a more rockier and experimental edge than their previous output, Gran Turismo  produced singles ‘My Favourite Game’ which reached #14 in the UK charts and ‘Erase/Rewind’ which reached #7. The video for ‘My Favourite Game’ was shot in the Mojave desert in California, a world away from the colder climate of Sweden. This change was so severe that Persson had to have oxygen supplied to her several times during the shoot to prevent her from “falling down”.

They released their last album Super Extra Gravity in 2005 and then after a year long tour took an extended break reuniting in 2012 for a series of concerts. Their four date exclusive tour lands in Birmingham in December, and tickets are available here. Full tour dates below:
