First wave of Lunar Festival lineup announced

It’s getting to that time of year, you didn’t get Glastonbury tickets, you can’t get a Friday or Monday off work to drive to another city and all of your favourite bands are avoiding Birmingham for some reason. This can mean only one thing: Festival Season is nearly upon us!

The solution to all of your festival blues is once again to be found right on your doorstep, thanks to Lunar Festival. For another year, Lunar returns to the Umberslade Farm Park (just near Solihull) for food, camping and probably its strongest live music line up to date.

Headline slots are being taken care of by Super Furry Animals (pictured), Mercury Rev and most excitingly Television. Here. In the Midlands. Television. Let’s just digest that for a moment.

Other huge names will be appearing, with The Zombies, Badly Drawn Boy and Bentley Rhythm Ace adding to the already strong bill. Also, Afro beat upstarts Ibibio Sound Machine are our pick for must see act of the festival. Don’t miss it!

Local music is of course catered for, with slots from Seeland, The Good Water and Victories at Sea to name but a few. It’s almost hard to believe that on Friday June 3rd, we can all just finish work and drive straight there in 40 minutes.

Lunar Festival takes place on the 3rd, 4th and 5th June and tickets are available from just under £50 here, with options for gypsy caravan and bell tent upgrades if you want to camp in style. And why wouldn’t you? You don’t want Tom Verlaine thinking you’re cheap, do you?
