Laura Mvula & Casio’s Action In Music initiative to hold pop-up event at the Bullring
Casio will be bringing their Action In Music initiative to Birmingham from January 9th for a week-long pop up event at the Bullring.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of how important music is within education and on the school curriculum and the campaign is fronted by mercury nominated singer/songwriter Laura Mvula who previously worked as a music teacher in Birmingham.
Between January 9th – 15th, shoppers will be able to visit the pop-up event and get involved by speaking to Casio experts and trying their hand at playing a Celviano Grand Hybrid piano. In association with local music shop Fair Deal Music, and fronted by local songstress Laura Mvula, the initiative hopes to inspire the next generation of music teachers and place a firm spotlight on music education in the UK.

The pop-up event culminates with a performance by Pianist and composer Okiem on Sunday January 15th, who will be performing in 20 minute slots from 11am – 5pm. Okiem has toured with some of the biggest artists in the music industry, from Duke Dumont to Tinie Tempah, through to opening performances for John Legend and Prince.
Casio are conducting a UK pop up tour visiting schools up and down the country and speaking with students and teachers about music, with a particular focus on learning a new skill like playing the piano. Several high profile music schools are already involved with the campaign including BRIT School and on Tuesday 10th January, the initiative will be visiting Shenley Academy School in Birmingham to celebrate music education in schools.
