Woven Skull promise “haunted woods and burning bogs” at Centrala show

Prog-folk three-piece Woven Skull have announced a show at leftfield arts venue Centrala on November 8th.

Book Accommodation

Woven Skull formed ten years ago in Ireland’s Co. Leitrim. They describe their sound as “minimal repetitions made inside of haunted woods and burning bogs”. Their sound combines mandola, guitar, and percussion with loops and samples. These samples can be anything from “cattle calls to the beating wings of bats in the night to the creaking of trees as they push against each other in the wind”.

Woven Skull’s back catalogue is a treasure trove of DIY offerings, their latest being The Cracking of Limbs, a darkly atmospheric split 7″ with Thor & Friends. Their debut studio album, Lair of the Glowing Bantling, came out on Penske Recordings in 2015. It’s five tracks of shamanic folk-drone, centred around a rousing cover of Sonny Sharrock’s ‘Blind Willie’.

Support comes from elusive local noise-rockers Squalor Fan. Described by Supersonic as “like Beastie Boys meets This Heat”, the duo recently added a drummer to the mix and spent time down at East London noise mecca, Bear Bites Horse, recording a soon to be released 5 track EP.

RSVP here, tickets are £6 otd.
