The Flapper to remain open until June 2019

One of Birmingham’s most loved music venues, The Flapper, has today announced it will remain open for another 12 months.

As we reported back in February, The Flapper was set to close its doors for the final time on June 30 2018 following plans to demolish the venue and build flats in its place.

But today we can reveal that The Flapper has accepted a 12 month extension, offered by the venue’s landlord, Baskerville Wharf.

In a statement, Baskerville Wharf said:

“Baskerville Wharf, the owners of The Flapper public house, have offered The Flapper Ltd business an extension of twelve-months whilst we continue our discussions with Birmingham City Council.

Plans were submitted in November 2017 for the site’s redevelopment and whilst we have withdrew the current application, we are considering the submission of revised proposals later in 2018.

The Flapper Ltd have accepted our offer and will now remain open for business until 30th June 2019.”

All “Celebration of The Flapper” events will go ahead as confirmed, with further celebratory events to be announced in due course.
