Birmingham’s legendary Snobs Nightclub to make £2m move in 2014

Birmingham’s legendary and oldest nightclub Snobs will make a £2m move across the city next year.
The current site, which has been home to Snobs for 41 years, is no longer deemed as safe due to ‘vibrations from the loud music’.
Snobs will move to its new home on Smallbrook Queensway in April 2014 and will be housed on the site of former clubs Vudu and Mint.
The move will see its capacity more than doubled to approximately 1,400 and will also create a number of new jobs – but the original styling of the club is set to be recreated in the new venue, along with the same drinks prices and music genres.
Speaking to the Birmingham Post, Snobs owner Wayne Tracey said: “It is the same formula – the same design, music, features and staff, but the new place will be bigger and better.
“Our first choice would have been to stay here and we have gone down every avenue to remain here, but in the end it just wasn’t possible.
“We know people are attached to this place and we want the same customers – and hopefully a few more – to enjoy the new place.”
The current Snobs building is due to be part of plans for a hotel, restaurant and apartment block.
