New Releases: George Windsor – Do My Thing
Counteract recently had the pleasure of connecting with U.K based Artist George Windsor. After a successful run on the X Factor and having spent time in New York recording with Lady Gaga’s producer George has now signed with Inside Baseball Music Publishing/Sony Music Publishing, so obviously we have been eagerly anticipating getting our hands on his latest single.
I first stuck the track on as I was taking a walk by the beach and it’s a catch tune, I had a little extra bounce in my step as I was taking my daily walk and trying to re-focus after a morning of meetings. The song has all the elements of an awesome Pop song, a great beat, expressive lyrics and a catchy chorus. I’ve found myself bopping around the apartment with this tune in my head for days after my first couple of listens.
George states that he wanted to write something to challenge the idea of conformity and spread the message that people should unapologetically be themselves. Essentially people should do their thing!
George was also Kind enough to have a quick chat with us and talk about his music and what inspires him.
Q: So George who are your biggest inspirations, musical or otherwise?
George: “Some of my biggest inspirations include Freddie Mercury, Anastacia, and Prince but then I also have some current artists who inspire me daily such as Kim Petras, Lady Gaga, and Kid Laroi :)”
Q: Nice! What is the process you follow when it comes to putting a track together and creating new music?
George: “My process can vary, sometimes I’ll hum random words and vowels as a melody and then write my lyrics to that melody and make them fit. I get inspired a lot by words and electronic sounds. They create the mood for me initially. I do write a lot of notes in my phone and voice memo all the time.”
Q: What about your plans for the future, what’s up next for George Windsor?
George: “I want to continue to release this year, maybe a couple of shows here and there, but I’m submerged in writing at the moment and creating. I have some more singles lined up and currently working towards an EP/album. I haven’t decided yet. Touring will probably be more towards the end of the year.”
