Coventry’s indie rock titans, The Enemy, are gearing up for a triumphant return to their hometown stage at hmv Empire on Friday, November 14, 2025. This headline show, complete with special guests yet to be revealed, marks their first performance at the venue since a trio of sold-out gigs in Autumn 2022 that left an indelible mark on Coventry’s live music scene. Since reforming in 2022, The Enemy has been an unstoppable force. Their reunion tour that year saw nearly 40,000 fans snap up tickets across the UK, a momentum that carried them straight into 2023’s festival circuit. They rocked stages at TRNSMT, Isle of Wight, and headlined Godiva Festival, setting the stage for 2024’s electrifying ‘Indie Til I Die’ tour alongside The Subways and The Holloways, with standout shows at O2 Academy Brixton and O2 Victoria Warehouse.
Now, with whispers of a fifth studio album in the pipeline, the band has unveiled their 2025 UK tour, promising to bring their raw energy to some of the nation’s most iconic venues. The tour kicks off on October 10 at Oxford’s O2 Academy and weaves through cities like London, Glasgow, and Nottingham, before culminating in that highly anticipated Coventry homecoming. Full dates are listed below, and tickets go on general sale here via hmvempire.com on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
Getting Into Gear
Adding to the excitement, The Enemy are set to receive a long-overdue honour for their Sky Blues anthem, “We’ll Live And Die In These Towns”. The trio—Tom Clarke (vocals/guitar), Andy Hopkins (bass), and Liam Watts (drums)—will be presented with a ‘Number One’ statuette, a recognition now given to all chart-topping artists. Their 2007 debut album of the same name hit #1 and went Platinum, but the band never received this accolade at the time. The statuette will feature in the “We’ll Live And Die In These Sky Blue Towns” exhibition, which opened at the acclaimed Coventry Music Museum on Friday, February 21, 2025. The exhibit celebrates the song’s status as a beloved chant among Sky Blues fans at the Coventry Building Society Arena while exploring the intersection of football, music, and Coventry’s vibrant culture. Frontman Tom Clarke shared his enthusiasm for the road ahead: “We’ve been working long days in the studio recording new material, so we’re really excited to get out on the road again. The plan is to experiment with some of the new tunes, maybe different ones on different shows to see how the crowds react and which ones connect with fans, and let that guide the track listing on the record which is nearing completion.” This approach promises a dynamic live experience, with fans potentially shaping the band’s next album.
Bassist Andy Hopkins echoed that sentiment, reflecting on the personal significance of the tour: “My favourite part of being in a band is having those nights with the fans where the atmosphere is electric – I think this tour is going to be really special for the 3 of us. It’ll be the first time we’ve been back to some of these cities in a long time, in venues we absolutely love and have been really important to us on the way up – Electric Ballroom was the first venue we ever played in London supporting The Fratellis, I drove us there with all the amps & guitars in my Fiesta!” The Enemy’s legacy is undeniable. Their debut, We’ll Live And Die In These Towns, stormed the charts with Top 10 singles “Had Enough” and “Away From Here”, followed by Music For The People (#2 in 2009), Streets In The Sky (#9 in 2012), and It’s Automatic (2015). Along the way, they’ve shared stages with legends like Oasis, The Killers, and The Rolling Stones. Still rocking their original lineup, the band’s chemistry remains as potent as ever.
