4 essential pieces of equipment for a festival

Organising a festival is no easy feat. For starters, you need to get together a memorable line-up and then there’s health and safety, production and logistics, and waste management to think about. To deliver an event that will likely reoccur for years to come, the key is to invest in high-quality equipment.

Whether you’re hosting a music festival or food show, the types of equipment needed are very similar. We take a look at some of the most important below.

Scaffold towers

Scaffold towers are a necessity for outdoor events, providing a stable platform for tasks such as stage construction, general maintenance, and lighting setup. With the right expertise, they can be assembled and disassembled safely and with ease, making them a suitable choice for temporary events.

Make sure to provide all of your workers with key equipment for construction such as impact wrenches, laser levels, PPE, generators, etc. Depending on the size of your stage, you may also need hoists and cranes as well as forklifts to move heavy equipment around the site.

Welfare facilities

When you think of festivals, one of the first things that comes to mind is having to use the toilet facilities – often, these aren’t the most pleasant. Kick these stereotypes to the kerb by providing your attendees with access to clean and functional welfare facilities, including cubicles and hand-washing stations.

If your event encompasses the entire weekend, make sure that these facilities are cleaned so they are safe and sanitary for your guests to use.

Check-in equipment

With people paying lots of money to come to your festival, you don’t want others managing to get in for free. You also want to avoid eager-festival-goers having to wait in queues for ages due to an inefficient entrance set-up.

Your scanning equipment must be able to process large volumes of attendees and work for at least a few hours without needing to be re-charged. And remember, you’ll also need a strong Wi-Fi connection for this equipment as well as a backup source in case the worst should happen.

Utility vehicles

Festivals are typically large, open spaces – some covering several miles of fields. Getting from one end to the other is difficult enough, not to mention taking equipment on the journey with you. To help assist you with the transportation of equipment and staff, utility vehicles are a must.

Aside from increasing efficiency and productivity, these vehicles can be used as transport for artists and VIPs within the venue to ensure they get from A to B safely and comfortably. You don’t need to invest in a fleet of utility vehicles either, simply hire them for the duration of the festival.
