Transfer News Today: Edwards To Rejon Tottenham, Liverpool Interested In Villa Star And Manchester United May lose Top Man

Us lot here at Counteract love our football, and we are going to be covering a fair bit of transfer news in the off-season and of course the European Championship and Copa America. So let us be your one-stop shop for all the transfer news and breaking stories as we now enter the summer break.

Marcus Edwards Keen On Move Back To Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in bringing back winger Marcus Edwards from Sporting CP. According to a recent report from Football London, Spurs are keen on re-signing the English forward this summer.

Despite his current contract running until the summer of 2026, Tottenham could get him at a decent price as they still have a sell-on clause for the winger. Edwards is said to be open to a move back to the club where he grew up so it may be easy to get this one over the line. Edwards is also versatile enough to play on the left wing or in the number ten role so he would provide a wider range of options for Big Ange in attack.

Ollie Watkins To Liverpool?

One bit of news that Villa fans won’t be fond of us is the fact Arne Slot could be potentially eyeing up a deal for The Villans’ talismanic forward Ollie Watkins. Watkins has impressed massively this season and has managed to score twenty-seven goals in all competitions. That’s his best-ever return.

It is believed that Arne Slot may find Darwin Nunez surplus to requirements and is lining up Watkins as a potential replacement for the Uruguayan. Villa would face a fight to keep the player, but you would also have to feel it would take a significant bid to prise Watkins away from the Birmingham-based club. Aston Villa will also be playing Champions League football next season so that would well keep him at Villa Park.

Bruno Fernandes Exiting Old Trafford?

Manchester United might face the loss of one of their key players, Bruno Fernandes, this summer, with reports suggesting that the midfielder’s agent is in discussions with Bayern Munich. Since joining United in 2020, Fernandes, now 29, has become a crucial figure for the team. However, his impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, and other top clubs are now eyeing the Portugal international.

Bayern Munich has expressed a keen interest in Fernandes, who is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2026. According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, has initiated talks with the German club ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The situation is further complicated as Barcelona is also reportedly keeping an eye on Fernandes, but they haven’t even been able to register their new coaching staff as of yet due to financial difficulties so I would be surprised if he went there. Still, the Spanish giants might join Bayern in making a move for the midfielder, who has scored 79 goals and provided 65 assists in 232 appearances for Manchester United since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon. The speculation surrounding Fernandes’ future has intensified recently. While Manchester United are expected to offload some players this summer, it remains unclear if they are willing to part ways with such a pivotal player as Fernandes.

That rounds up this week’s most interesting stories, see you again here for more of the same soon.
