Watch Kai, a winning film from Magnum’s Vie Magnifique competition
Earlier this year, Magnum ice cream and i-D invited budding directors to submit short film entries for their competition entitled “Be True To Your Pleasure”. Three independent film-makers were selected as winners by acclaimed director Xavier Dolan (Heartbeats, Mommy) back in August.
In conjunction with Magnum and i-D, film-makers were invited to send in their short films about personal pleasure and letting go with winners receiving funding, production support and mentorship from Dolan.
Below, you can watch one of the three winning films Kai, directed by Andrew Cumming, which explores the life of a dancer struggling to combine work with passion, until one day, said dancer (Kai) accepts an invitation to express joy with others and opens up a whole new world of possibilities only to realize the pleasure of letting go.
Magnum ice cream believes that everyone should indulge in their personal pleasure. It doesn’t matter who you are, or what you take pleasure in; a day without pleasure is a day lost.
