How To Place Bets In Online Roulette

When you open an online Roulette game, you’ll see a table layout showing all betting options alongside the Roulette wheel.

But what types of bets can you place and how do you place it on the game table? In this article, we will tell you just that, so the next time you log on to play a virtual game of online Roulette, you’ll know just what to do.

How to place a bet

To place a bet, you select a chip value and click on the part of the table layout that corresponds to your chosen wager. Online Roulette usually allows you to place multiple bets per spin.

Roulette bets are divided into two main categories: inside bets and outside bets.

Inside bets

Inside bets are placed directly on specific numbers or small groups of numbers on the Roulette table. They have higher payout odds due to their lower probability.

  • Straight-up bet: This is a bet on a single number. For example, you can place a chip directly on any number from one to 36, or on zero (or double zero in American Roulette). This bet offers the highest payout at 35 to one.
  • Split bet: A bet on two adjacent numbers on the table. For instance, you could place a chip on the line between numbers 14 and 17. The payout is 17 to one.
  • Street bet: This is a bet on a row of three numbers. You place a chip on the outer edge of the row, covering three numbers in a horizontal line, such as 10, 11, and 12. The payout for a street bet is 11 to one.
  • Corner bet: Also known as a square bet, this wager covers four numbers in a block. For example, you can place a chip at the intersection of 16, 17, 19, and 20. The payout is eight to one.
  • Line bet: A bet on two adjacent rows, covering a total of six numbers. You place a chip on the line that separates the two rows you want to bet on. The payout for a line bet is five to one.

Outside bets

Outside bets cover larger groups of numbers and are located on the outer areas of the table layout. These bets have a higher chance of becoming the outcome of the game but offer lower payout odds.

  • Red or black: A bet on whether the ball will land in a red or black pocket. You place your chip on the coloured box. The payout is one to one.
  • Odd or even: A wager on whether the number inside the pocket where the ball has landed will be odd or even. The payout for this bet is also one to one.
  • High or low: This bet covers either the low numbers (one–18) or high numbers (19–36). The payout is one to one.
  • Dozen bet: This bet covers a group of 12 numbers (either one–12, 13–24, or 25–36). The payout for a dozen bet is two to one.
  • Column bet: A bet on an entire column of 12 numbers. You place a chip at the bottom of one of the columns on the table. The payout is 2two to one.
