This June, The Rainbow in Digbeth proudly welcomes Washington musical pioneers and sludge rock’s longest running band, The Melvins.
The band released their long-lost collaboration, Three Men and a Baby, (originally intended for release back in 1999) on April 1st, it notably being their first recording for Seattle’s Sub Pop label in the bands epic 33 year history. In case this long awaited release isn’t enough, their 24th album, Basses Loaded, featuring 6 different bass players, including Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, Red Kross’ Steve McDonald and Butthole Surfers, J.D Pinkus, is also due to hit the record shelves on June 3rd.
Being renowned for their own brand of heavy and determined sludge, out-spoken antics, a back catalogue large enough for a different set list every night, and a well documented influence over a music scene that changed rock forever, missing this gig should not be an option.
