The Hottest date in town is back for its second party this year, taking over Digbeth’s intimate The Night Owl with an eclectic mix of psych, indie and acoustic musicians matched with party brands and DJs from all over the block.
Taking back their rightful title of being the Hott-est place for new music and the best DJs on the scene, Hott Date promises a night of eclectic music, cutting edge bands and “a whole lot of silliness” on Sunday, August 5th at The Night Owl.
Headlining the night are cosmic psych powerhouse Lions of Dissent. Back after a short hiatus with a riotous new single ‘Honey from Hell’ (due to be released July 27th). The 7 piece, Wolverhampton based masterminds captivate audiences with their Britpop influences, psychedelic fusions and crashes of bittersweet rock and roll.
Also included in this stellar line up are the dreamy, funky electro-pop group Flamingo Flame, bedroom pop project turned international artists VEDA, modern reggae and rocksteady artist George Wilson, haunting acoustic folk pop soloist Matt Millard, lo-fi indie garage trio Exotic Pets to name a few.
It wouldn’t be a Hott Date event without a DJ fling, so luckily a whole host of Birmingham’s newest, freshest and greatest DJs will be spinning tracks well into the night. Expect Tom Mason (Le Freak), Chicks Dig Jerks, Steven Davis (The Ska 45’s) Elizabeth Ilsley (Cherry Bomb), Ben Drummond (The Sunflower Lounge), Kaleidoscope, House of Jealous Lovers and loads, loads more.
Hott Date started over a decade ago back in the iconic Rainbow Pub. Quickly becoming known for putting on the hottest parties in town, Hott Date hosted legendary parties in The Rainbow Pub, Beach, Warehouse and Garden – as well as The Flapper, Hare and Hounds and most recently a Lower Trinity Street takeover back in March. This next event at The Night Owl is less than a third of the capacity of the last sell-out event.
The Hott Date BBQ kicks off at 2pm on Sunday, August 5th with live music, BBQ and DJs well into the night. Early bird tickets have already sold out, and advanced tickets are available here.
