This October, Californian stoner metal trio High On Fire join Norwegian black metallers Enslaved at The Mill. With a UK exclusive show from Napalm Death lined up for later in the year, this Digbeth venue is fast gaining a name amongst Birmingham’s metal connoisseurs.

High On Fire are the brainchild of Sleep’s Matt Pike, taking his doom metal roots into thrashier, sludgier territory. Since forming, they’ve released seven studio albums and toured with the likes of Opeth, Mastodon, and Adult Swim’s death metal answer to Gorillaz, Dethklok. This tour will coincide with the release of their new studio album Electric Messiah, which comes out this October on E1 Music.
Nuclear Blast’s Enslaved are co-headlining. Direct from Bergen, the group was formed in 1991 by the then teenage Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson. Since then they’ve turned out an impressive back catalogue, including a commission for the Norwegian Government to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian constitution which led to them winning the Spellemannprisen for Metal. Kyellson had the following to say about the upcoming dates:
“I can guarantee you that this will be a tour for the books, so get ready for some excessive indulgence in heavy music madness! See you on the road folks!”
The tour sees both bands playing twelve dates across Europe, five of which are in the UK. Tickets for the Birmingham date are available here, and the full tour dates are below.
08 – Academy 2, Manchester
10 – Limelight 2, Belfast
12 – The Mill, Birmingham
14 – SWX, Bristol
15 – The Dome, London
