Go Kart Mozart release new album ahead of their headline show in Birmingham

Go Kart Mozart to play the Hare & Hounds on Thursday 5th July as part of a select tour in support of new album Mozart’s Mini Mart.

The return of Birmingham’s most enigmatic musical son Lawrence, is real cause for celebration. We were appalled when his last mooted show at the O2 Academy in 2016 was allegedly pulled due to poor ticket sales – what is wrong with people? The frontman of seminal indie band Felt (with some ten classic albums released in the eighties), the maliciously twee bubblegum pop glam of Denim and, most recently, Go Kart Mozart, is renowned for making eccentrically anti-commercial career choices.

Give us Lawrence over a thousand Morrisseys. Possessed of a cute and mischievous songwriting sparkle, check out ‘Mrs Back-To-Front and the Bull Ring Thing’ from debut Go Kart album Instant Wigwam and Igloo Mixture to see what we mean. Lawrence’s uncompromising idiosyncrasy may have kept him out of the mainstream but he is a genuine legend amongst his peers and fans.

This being Lawrence it’s impossible to predict when he may perform live again, don’t miss out. In his home town and at the Hare & Hounds might just be the perfect combination. New album Mozart’s Mini Mart was released in February and features 17 tracks across 35 minutes, all overflowing with Lawrence’s glint in the eye lyrical cheek and playground psychedelia, pure genius. Stock up on the Um Bongo: Lawrence is back.
