Aptly calling their music “garage blues + trash country”, The Hungry Ghosts aren’t aiming to sound nice or pretty, but raw and real. They’ve provided support to many headliners who have graced Birmingham venues, including Protomartyr and Tigercub. They’re something of a regular support act at gigs in the city, and always put on a captivating performance.
Their sound is rough, raucous and retro, with a distinct rockabilly feel to the arrangements. Their image and songs are disticntly dark, and it’s been said that their music would suit a Tarantino soundtrack.
